Welcome to CoHeals! We are thrilled to welcome you to our community.
Our mission is to forge connections and build relationships among families affected by pediatric cancer using smart technology, national partnerships, and focused research. Sweet Tea Cancer Connections created the Community Heals (CoHeals) app to connect pediatric cancer parents and caregivers more intentionally and meaningfully. We leverage technology to replace happenstance hospital connections with targeted searches for pediatric cancer parents and caregivers. Parents in the pediatric community will find hope, knowledge, and empowerment through relationships with families on similar paths to help increase resiliency and reduce feelings of isolation. Parents and primary caregivers who utilize the CoHeals app will know that they are not alone, and together they are stronger. There is something to be said when you connect with someone else in your shoes—it gives you hope and makes you feel like you are a part of a community that heals.
We at CoHeals work hard to align our actions with our mission.
At CoHeals we value:
● An inclusive community for all parents and caregivers of children affected by pediatric cancer where they feel safe and supported regardless of race, color, sex, religion, disability, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, national origin, age, or socioeconomic status.
● A safe community where members have been vetted to ensure access only to parents and primary caregivers of children who have been affected by pediatric cancer.
● A caring community that extends grace and support to our CoHeals community members because we understand the stress and hardships a cancer diagnosis can put on a family.
We request that you read and respect the guidelines below for our community’s expectations:
● Illegal activity
o We value a safe and legal community. We do not encourage or suggest any type of illegal and/or questionable activity within our CoHeals app. We reserve the right to address or deactivate member accounts found to promote or be involved with any illegal activity.
● CoHeals values inclusivity. Any harassment or hateful conduct, including discrimination, hate speech, bullying, or targeted attacks will not be tolerated.
o We encourage you to be tolerant towards others’ viewpoints. If you disagree, we encourage you to do so respectfully.
o Any posts that include or imply defamatory, indecent, hateful, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, sexist, disgraceful, vulgar or inappropriate content or language, will be removed.
o CoHeals is a social connection app and is not a place for professional medical advice, treatment, or diagnosis. CoHeals does not provide medical advice. You acknowledge and agree that the app and all information made available in connection with the app are solely for informational purposes and do not constitute medical advice. Information provided through the use of the app may not be relevant for an individual’s personal situation. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you represent and warrant that you will use your best judgment in providing any information to participants on the app. You assume full risk and responsibility for the information you provide, use, or rely on, in relation to the app. Likewise, CoHeals does not provide clinical services to members of our app community.
● Impersonating other users
o You will be vetted in order to join our CoHeals app. Inaccurate or false applications with result in suspension from CoHeals community.
● Spam and scams, selling and advertising
o CoHeals is an app to connect parents and primary caregivers not to sell or advertise. If you are interested in sharing resources, we have a special group you can request to join on our app where you can share this information directly.
o If we find that you are selling or advertising outside this group on our app, we will remove the post and address this individually.
● Sexual content or nudity
o No pictures of sexual content or nudity are allowed on CoHeals app and will be removed and/or reported.
o Any sexual predatory behavior or anything that could be interpreted as such will be removed and/or reported.
o If you think you might be a victim of sexual assault, please contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline.
● Violence / Harm to Others
o Any posts which include violent conduct: extreme violence, graphic violence, threats, gore, obscenities, etc. will be removed and addressed with the individual(s) users.
o Any violent conduct which happens as a result of connecting via our geolocator, we are not liable for. We encourage members when meeting others via our geolocator to always meet in a public place with others around and follow all safety precautions as you would in the general public .
o If any threats are made to harm others, we will not tolerate this and will deactivate your account when we are aware of this behavior on our app.
● Emergencies / Harm to Self
o We are not available to assist with emergency situations. If an emergency arises, we encourage you to call the local authorities to assist you immediately as we do not provide mental health treatment nor emergency help.
o If in crisis, please communicate with family members, law enforcement, or others if you present a serious and imminent threat of harm to self or others. If you are in crisis, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or contact the Crisis Text Line by texting TALK to 741741.
● Sharing of private information
o Given personal information is shared on our app, we ask you to please respect the privacy and personal information of others by not sharing any information you learn or see on our app with others outside the CoHeals community to help respect others. Violation of this policy may lead to being excluded from our CoHeals community in our effort to keep it a safe space for others.
o From time to time, we may invite you to participate in surveys from us and our partners. Participation is voluntary and if the results are published, your name will never be attached to the data you provide.
Please know we will take action when we see someone violating these guidelines. Sometimes that just means giving someone a warning; other times it means revoking certain privileges or accounts entirely. We request that all community members report behavior that violates our guidelines to email@example.com or you can report this within the app itself.
